Hornady announces new muzzleloader bullet- Bore Driver® ELD-X® 340gr

Hornady has been teasing a next addition to the Bore Driver line up for several weeks now and it looks like we finally have details on the new Bore Driver ELD-X.

Fast and easy to load, the Bore Driver® delivers the ultimate in muzzleloader performance. At the heart of the system is a polymer base (not a sabot) that seals the bore to deliver maximum energy transfer and accuracy. Atop the base is an ELD-X® or FTX® bullet, featuring a rugged gilding metal jacket coupled with polymer tip technology and an InterLock® ring that delivers maximum lethality.

When you have one shot this muzzleloader season, make it count and use the best – Hornady® Bore Driver®!

The Bore Driver FTX line is popular among muzzleloading hunters. In my personal tests, the bullets have performed and have been consistently accurate. The ELD-X is built on the same base as the FTX, the bullet is longer though and heavier as well. On first viewing, it looks like the FTX has been stretched into a longer profile.

We can assume the ELD-X stands for ‘Extreme Long Distance - Extreme’. This would be Hornady’s first addition of a ‘long range bullet’ in the FTX line. The desire for more bullets designed for modern fast twist in-line muzzleloaders has grown in the market over the last 5 years.

The Hornady ELD-X will no doubt be a competitor for the Powerbelt ELR bullet for those looking to hunt with their non custom in-line rifles in the 2023-2024 hunting season.

It looks like the ELD-X will come in packs of 12 and will be available in 2023.
