Autumn 2021 Muzzleloading Table Shoot Round Up

Carl King has shared this great information in the “Over the Log and Table Match Shooting” Facebook group. Muzzleloading Table shoots are a rich part of muzzleloading history, dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s as some of the first shooting sports competitions. These matches grew in popularity in the Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky region and are still scheduled through the American South.


Blue Jacket Muzzle Loaders table Shoot - August 15th - Xenia, OH

16 shooters, top 4 were:

  1. Bill Disbro 2.348"

  2. Don Ross 3.111"

  3. H. Libby 3.597"

  4. Dave Krumme 4.171"

Best X went to Bill Disbro with a 0.033"

Tom and Dawn Swigart and the Blue Jacket folks put on a really nice shoot, a big thanks to all of them.

Table Shoot - August 21st - Sloas Farm - Louisa, KY

I know this was their first table shoot - 5 shooters signed in - Don Ross, Burton Wright, Sterling Martin, Charlie Chalk and Buck Ruth.They shot for match money and I think everyone won back some money.

KLR Table Shoot - August 28th - Morehead, KY - 10 Shooters

Was a hot and very humid day, I don't have the scores for all but I do know that Bobby Grimm shot a 2.5??" string to win it. Sterling Martin was right behind him with a 3.1??" string. Bobby had the best X. Thanks to Dennis Winburn and John Jayne for taking care of all the shoot details and scoring the targets and to John for those great brownies.

Tri County Coon Hunters Table Shoot - Sept. 4th - Batesville, IN.

Was cloudy, was rainy, was windy, was sunny. conditions changed all through the shoot.

Started out with 9 shooters but lost one due to gun issues. Scores for the remaining 8 ranged from 2.057" to 9.031"

  1. Gary Cornelius 2.057"

  2. Carl King 3.465"

  3. Bill Disbro 3.705"

  4. Dave Collier 4.213"

Best X went to Gary with a 0.031". Gary won the first 4 relays and had 2- Second Places and 3 - Third Places to finish out the shoot. His first 5 shots totaled 0.667". Gary had it all working together for a great string.

Thanks to Nick Noll for running the shoot, scoring the targets and handing out the shoot money and to all of those who brought and prepared all of the fine food we enjoyed after the match.

Next table shoot that I know about is Bryan Station Muzzleloaders on September 18th at the Bluegrass Sportsmans Club at Wilmore KY. food at 11:00 am, relays start at 12:00 Noon. Hope to see y'all there.
