Let's Build an InvestArm Plains Pistol Kit Part 8: Sights & Escutcheon Plate Fixing | Muzzleloader

Today we're back in the shop for our first Winter 2023-2024 project! This kit is a continuation of the Lyman Plains Blackpowder Pistol, now made by InvestArm of Italy.

In this video I focus fixing a couple of my goofs from the build, focusing on the barrel key plates to get them in line with the stock to my liking. In total, I spent around 2 hours refining the barrel key plates to make them fit nicely. As with many things in life, it seems the smallest of jobs are the ones where we learn the most.

In addition to the escutcheons, I refine the transition from the nose of the stock to the nose cap, and we clean up the front blade and rear notch sight. The sights are also “small” jobs, but take a considerable amount of time due to the intersecting shapes. Keep this in mind when planning time to build your own kit at home.
