Original JACOB DICKERT FLINTLOCK | Hands on at the Rock Island Auction Company

I’m very blessed to have the opportunity to bring you today’s video. Special thanks to the Rock Island Auction Company for giving me this opportunity.

This video is about an original Jacob Dickert flintlock muzzleloader, or longrifle, made during the American Revolutionary War. Dickert was a legendary builder during the United States battle for independence. It’s possible this very muzzle loader could have been used in the war.

Just over 200 years of muzzleloading history in one photo. The Dickert is second from the right.

This Dickert in particular represents an early version of what would become the American Longrifle. It features many details of what would come of the iconic American muzzleloader, but holds onto what inspired the American Longrifle. You’ll notice the set trigger is a paddle style trigger, much like we see in the German Jaeger rifles, showing the direct connection from the German Gunsmiths to the American Gunsmiths of the 18th century.
