Testing the top 5 Muzzleloader bullets for accuracy at 100 yards | Blackhorn 209 - CVA Accura LR V2

Today I'm at the Yazel Shooting Complex, aka my backyard, to do a little bit more muzzleloader bullet testing. I get asked a lot of questions when it comes to my CVA Accura LR V2 about the accuracy of it with the variety of bullets I've been shooting in it. If you've seen the muzzleloading milk jug test videos I've done you'll see some comments wondering how my Accura is so accurate with a variety of bullets at 100 yards on a target the size of a milk jug. It's not something I really thought about a whole lot I got it sighted in and found the 80 grains by weight of Blackhorn 209 charge that it likes and I just kind of started shooting with it. So today I want to take that to the test and really see how actually accurate that 80 grains by weight of blackhorn 209 is in the Accura with five different bullets.

Now I'm going to be testing that with a 50 yard six bull target from the NMLRA. We're going to be placing it at 100 yards because that's where we've been shooting the Accura a lot and we're going to be testing five different bullets. Each bullet will get three shots on its own bull.

The bullets I’m testing are the 300 grain THOR bullet which has the blue ballistic tip. We're going to be testing the PowerBelt ELR 50 caliber which is of course what CVA recommends in something like the Accura. We've got the Smackdown Carnivore featuring Ridgeback sabot, these are distributed by Traditions. We have the Hornady Bore Driver FTX and the Federal Bore Lock.

I’ve premeasured the charges with 80 grains exactly by weight of blackhorn 209. By volume that's like 112 to 115 depending on the powder measure that you're using.

The bullets for today’s test were provided by muzzle-loaders.com and the THOR bullets were sent to me by THOR Bullets. I'm not being compensated in any way for this video except for these bullets were sent in which I really do appreciate, this stuff kind of adds up and that little help of getting this stuff in so that we can test it here on the range is greatly appreciated.

I'm impressed across the board myself with these results. None of these are match grade groups but they're all in the black and for an off-the-shelf stock muzzle loader like my Accura is with the same charge across all these bullets, I am really pleased with the results.

I hope you enjoyed this, I really enjoyed doing a shoot like this, it reminded me of my days growing up in competitive muzzleloading. Check out on the channel if it's not already up yet it will be soon I’m going to do the same test with Hodgdon Triple 7 because triple seven is kind of what people are able to find right now, Blackhorn is still pretty hard to find and it's gone up in price here in 2022. If you have any questions about this please leave them in the comments below and I'm happy to answer them. Let me know what other bullets you'd like me to test I've got quite a few others here I think it'd be fun to do more of these so if there's a particular one let me know and I'll try to stack up another group of five here for us to test on the range.
