With 5 days to the deadline, no news on GOEX Sale

UPDATE: As of January 6, 2022, the Hodgdon Website lists the GOEX Brand and Facility as SOLD

As of writing, it’s Monday, December 27, 2021. This coming Friday is the December 31, 2021 deadline Hodgdon put on the existence of the GOEX Blackpowder brand. I had really hoped we would hear something concrete by this point, really by the end of November was my hope, but we have nothing but rumors floating around the web.

By now there’s been nearly a dozen rumors of a savior coming into help American black powder retain black powder independence, but no official releases have been made. Is that to say that any of these rumors can’t be true? No, perhaps the business side of this deal is taking longer, maybe the holidays are slowing things down, it’s hard to say.

Hodgdon announced last week they would be on their annual “Holiday break” until January 3 to recoup after a long and busy year. With this news, I don’t expect any updates on GOEX until next month, and once we are in January, I’m sure the Hodgdon Powder Company is shifting focus to SHOT Show 2022 and the new year of production.

Hodgdon representatives have stated that they are optimistic about a sale

If we do hear anything concrete and verified, we will update everyone as soon as possible.

As we look towards January 2022, we’ll be talking to Schuetzen and Swiss Blackpowder to hear firsthand what they plan to do to support muzzleloading enthusiasts in 2022.
